Kate Brintworth

Regional Chief Midwife for London

I’ve always wanted to make a difference to people

Before becoming a coach and building Achievingoals, I trained as a dental nurse, then as a general nurse. I later worked as a midwife and health visitor in North London, and went on to work in the community, delivering babies at home in and around East London.

Later I moved into NHS management and charity leadership. This experience, balanced with my healthcare background, gave me the strong foundations that, today, allow me to help my clients reflect and see new perspectives during our coaching.

In 2010, I became an accredited coach and, since then, I’ve supported hundreds of people dealing with real issues, leaving them with a lifelong set of simple tools that they use every day.

Some things you might find interesting…

When I’m not coaching, I can often be found trying new recipes via WhatsApp with my mentee with learning disabilities, Ilana (who’s a quicker cook than I am) …

…or trying to find time for my spinning and weaving hobby.

I once lived in Brunei, and have worked with the flying doctors in Australia.

My favourite part of the day is my early morning walk with our Labrador Percy.

Helping my clients through life-changing transitions that make them happier and more fulfilled never fails to motivate me.

I’ve had my own challenges

When a member of my family was diagnosed with chronic fatigue, we struggled to find the right help.

Eventually we worked with a multi-disciplinary team and, together, we looked holistically at the person behind the diagnosis. Slowly but surely, they began to recover, and I’ll be forever grateful.

During this time, I doubted myself and my ability to help. I took the difficult decision to leave the NHS after 36 years, and embarked on an NLP & Mindfulness course.

And I’m so glad I did. That decision opened up so many opportunities to me, including my own transition into career, health and wellbeing coaching, and to my work in the charity sector.

I’m a coach and a coachee

I use my executive experience, my background in health and my NLP training in my coaching every day, and I’m continually energised by seeing the positive steps my clients make.

I have my own coach who helps me recognise what’s working well and what isn’t. He allows me to appreciate how far I’ve come, to celebrate what I’ve achieved, and to make sure I keep an open mind in my own learning.

I’d love to give you the space to start making the changes you want in your life.
